Our vision is to create a world where every first responder feels seen, supported, and empowered in every part of their life. We believe that by caring for the human behind the badge, we strengthen not only the individual but the entire community they serve.
We provide vital financial assistance to first responders suffering from the effects of cumulative trauma, post-traumatic stress (PTS), and are unable to work. Beyond financial relief, we offer support and connection to trauma processing through programs designed to promote healing and renewal.
Our approach integrates practical assistance with spiritual and emotional care, helping first responders navigate the challenges of recovery while restoring hope, joy, and purpose. Through our partnerships and resources, we are committed to fostering resilience and long-term wellness within the first responder community.
Healing the Hero guides military, veterans, First Responders, Gold Star Families, Families of the Fallen and all immediate family members through The Trauma Resiliency Protocol - A Peer Led Neuroscience-backed process that eliminates trauma at the root of the injury.
Through our partnership with Reboot Recovery, Behind That Badge offers First Responder REBOOT, a 12-week, peer-led healing course designed to help first responders and their families process critical incident stress and cumulative trauma. REBOOT is rooted in faith, but you don’t have to be. Participants gain practical tools, peer support, and a structured path toward healing, resilience, and renewed purpose - because you don’t have to carry it alone.

Behind That Badge honors the bravery and sacrifice of those who serve our communities.
Joseph Pfeifer is a diverse singer/songwriter from Santa Barbara, CA, having collaborated with songwriters from reggae to country. His solo debut album Good Company (2010) found early success, followed by his alt-country/Americana-driven EP Lost Boys. A winner of multiple songwriting awards, including the USA and International Songwriting Competitions, Joseph has toured nationally and internationally. Relationally centered and emotionally driven, his songs are storytelling at heart, teeming with authenticity.
